IRCC invites 1,280 candidates in the first express entry draw of April 2024

Canada Express Entry Draw

The latest Express Entry draw held on April 10, 2024, saw the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) extend invitations to 1,280 candidates, representing a significant milestone in Canada’s ongoing immigration efforts. These invitations signify Canada’s commitment to welcoming skilled immigrants who possess exceptional qualifications and meet the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) threshold.

The CRS threshold for this draw was set at 549 points, indicating the high caliber of candidates selected. This threshold is determined based on various factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. Candidates who surpass this threshold are considered well-suited to contribute to Canada’s economy and society.

Canada’s Express Entry system is a streamlined and efficient immigration program designed to attract skilled workers to contribute to the country’s economy. Eligibility for Express Entry is determined through a points-based system known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Eligibility for Canada Express Entry

Skilled Work Experience: Candidates must have at least one year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience within the last ten years. The work experience must be classified under Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations), Skill Level A (professional occupations), or Skill Level B (technical occupations and skilled trades) of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system.

Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English and/or French is required. Candidates need to take a standardized language test recognized by the Canadian government (such as IELTS for English or TEF for French) and score a minimum level of proficiency.

Education: Candidates must have completed a post-secondary educational program of at least one year in Canada or an equivalent foreign credential assessed by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from an approved organization.

Adaptability: Additional points are awarded for factors such as having a valid job offer in Canada, having a relative who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or having completed studies in Canada.

Age: While there is no minimum age requirement, candidates under 18 or over 45 years old may receive fewer points in the CRS.

Candidates must score 67 points to qualify for the Express Entry program. Check your  Points with CRS Calculator.
