Some key findings of the report are:
Surging demand for skilled labor: The UAE’s robust technology, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, and logistics sectors have seen a significant surge of 20-25% in demand for skilled Indian blue-collar workers in the past year.
Upskilling non-skilled workers: To meet the changing market needs, non-skilled workers in the UAE are actively engaging in upskilling programs facilitated by government initiatives like the National Qualification Authority (NQA), Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs, and the NAFIS program.
- States fueling skilled migration: Indian states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh are playing a pivotal role in supplying skilled migrant workers to the UAE.
Economic impact through remittances: In 2022, remittances from Indian migrant workers in the UAE totaled around $100 billion, significantly contributing to India’s economy and supporting families back home, thus stimulating rural development.
Knowledge transfer and skill development: Upskilling programs not only equip migrant workers with valuable skills but also facilitate knowledge transfer upon their return, ultimately fostering India’s economic advancement.
Sustainable workforce development: A diverse and skilled workforce not only supports sustainable practices but also ensures adherence to environmental and safety standards, thereby bolstering the UAE’s labor market sustainability in the long run.
Working in the UAE offers numerous benefits, including:
